I am with the National Weather Service office in
sacramento. we (NWS office, Sacramento) are recruiting volunteer weather spotters. many of our spotters are amatuers and they make very good spotters (intelligent, good technical educations, and a vested interest in the weather as it can do nasty things
to antennas, towers and radios). To this end, do you know where we can obtain a comprehensive list of northern and central California radio clubs. I have the ARRL list for California but i feel there are probably a few clubs around who are not affiliate
. If there is such a list, is there a way we can get a copy? We would like to contact the various clubs with a view to perhaps running a spot in the newsletter, or making a presentation at a club meeting. I can be contacted through the National Weather
Service office in Sacramento (916)-979-3041 or 3051. Thank you for your time, Don Noxon

Just got my license, bought a Icom 746, I'll see if I can hit your repeater all the way from Saratoga (about 100 miles) and say hi. I was able to hit one in the sierras that was 150 miles away so it should be possible.

I am glad I found this Tues. evening net.
I work evenings,1600-2400, and roam from El Dorado Hills to Dunnigan. It is nice to have company as I
drive.
I have been using an ht into a 1/4 wave spike, and
the results have been questionable. I shudder to
think that my audio was 40% white noise.
I feel awkward about that set up,I know it is not pleasant to hear a station who is less than full quieting.
Today I am installing a real 2 meter mobile in my
company vehicle.
I appololgize for any annoyance and look forward to further contacts via the new system.
73,
Robert/KI6FT
